WELCOME

Dan Hill

The State Government is privatising essential services in our hospitals. The LHMU and Health Services Union have united to fight the State Government’s privatisation agenda because we know that privatisation will lead to lower standards and poorer quality of care in our hospitals. We also know that it will result in fewer jobs, lower pay and increased workloads for hospital workers.

Recent experiences in Australia and around the world have shown that the privatising of government services has eroded the quality of care and lowered standards in hospitals. The State Government argues that privatisation saves money, but experience shows that privatised health services often cost taxpayers more money.

The fight against privatisation is a fight we cannot afford to lose.  Please join our campaign to keep our hospitals In Public Hands.

ONLY THREE VOTES TO GO

With Kalgoorlie MLA John Bowler now committed to supporting Labor's No Privatisation in Hospitals and Schools Bill 2010, we only need three more votes to get it through the lower house of State Parliament.  Click here to email your local MP to urge them to support the Bill.

The In Public Hands campaign is being run by the LHMU and the Health Services Union to fight State Government moves to privatise essential services in WA hospitals and schools.

The Western Australian government has announced plans to privatise health services at Fiona Stanley Hospital, Albany Health Campus, Armadale Health Campus, Midland Health Campus and Busselton Health Campus. They won't stop there.

And, despite a pre-election commitment, the Barnett Government is allowing schools to privatise school cleaning.

Privatisation means less money for our hospitals and schools, because private companies have to make a profit. Privatisation means lower staffing levels, fewer resources and lower pay for workers and it means lower quality services for WA families.  It has failed in the past and it will fail now.

The State Government can afford to provide us with quality public services.  Get involved in our campaign to show the government you want our hospitals and schools to remain In Public Hands.
